AgResearch Meat Innovation Workshop
This well-established annual event is the forum for exchanging ideas and scientific developments amongst meat industry professionals and scientists.
Day One starts at 3pm where participants will be given a guided tour of Te Ohu Rangahau Kai – AgResearch and Massey University’s new purpose-built joint food sciences facility, followed by a networking BBQ.
Day Two starts at 8.30am with three exciting sessions related to the application of research outcomes in the meat industry.
The three sessions will cover:
Disruptive Technologies – this session will provide insights into the meat sector innovation frameworks and discuss enablers of change from Phil Green (Greenleaf Consulting, Australia). Participants will then gain an insight into some of the latest research work underway at AgResearch and beyond.
Emerging Food Technologies – participants will hear about research into novel technologies including blue LEDs and MATS processing for improving meat shelf life and pathogen control.
The Consumer Experience – hear from Linda Farmer (Head of Food Research, Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Ireland), and then gain an understanding into the consumer responses to intramuscular fat in NZ lamb, and hear about consumer perception towards alternative proteins.
